Emergency Fund & Food-Raiser for Allentown School District Students and Families

The Allentown School District Foundation is proud to partner with the Allentown School District as the District launches an Emergency Fund & Non-Perishable Food-Raiser, spear-headed by Superintendent Dr. Carol D. Birks, to support the nearly 17,000 students and families we serve. 

The Allentown School District Foundation, a registered 501(c)(3) led by Executive Director Patti Bruno, will be accepting monetary donations in full support of the District's efforts November 3rd through November 14th.

Amidst the ongoing government shutdown and disruptions to federal nutrition assistance programs like SNAP, too many families in our community are facing uncertainty at the dinner table. More than 91% of Allentown students are economically disadvantaged, and nearly 98% qualify for free or reduced-price meals. For many children, the meals served in school are their most dependable source of nourishment. When that stability is threatened, we step up.

Through this coordinated effort, monetary donations will be used to purchase food and essential items directly for students and their families. While community donations fill many shelves, monetary contributions are equally vital—providing the flexibility to purchase essential items that are difficult to collect or urgently needed, such as baby formula, diapers, hygiene products, and specialized dietary items.

The District will be coordinating with school social workers, United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley, and Second Harvest Food Bank, and the Allentown School District Foundation to ensure donations reach those most in need quickly and efficiently. Every contribution, no matter how small, becomes part of a larger promise:
