2025-2026 School Year ASDF Funded Programs for ASD Students

  • Literacy Volunteers

    ASDF recruits, trains, clears & places community volunteers in PreK-3 classes to assist teachers with reading activities in alignment with ASD’s curriculum. We currently oversee 100+ volunteers throughout ASD classrooms.

  • I Am on a Bookshelf

    Students write & illustrate a book, and ASDF pays for one copy for the student and one copy for the school library. Our student authors also have the opportunity to participate in a “Meet the Author’s” night!

  • Reading is Rewarding

    The current endowed program serves Raub Middle School where students with the most improvement in reading each quarter are determined and ASDF gifts them with a book of their choice. ASDF is currently working to expand this opportunity to other schools.

  • STEAM Club Jr.

    ASDF funds & coordinates afterschool science clubs in two schools selected by the donor, including supplies, field trips, workshops and teacher stipends. ASDF is currently working to expand this program to other schools.

  • Science Fairs

    ASDF funds supplies, registration fees, transportation, teacher stipends and other costs associated with local, regional and state science fairs such as The Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science (PJAS).

  • National History Day

    ASDF funds supplies, registration fees, transportation, teacher stipends and other costs associated with National History Day competitions.

  • Civic Education

    Activities vary from year to year but have included funding for trips to historical PA sites and Washington, DC.

  • Visual Arts Residencies

    ASDF funds and coordinates 6 to 8 session art programs led by local teaching artists specializing in murals, oil pastels and other art mediums.

  • El Sistema Strings Lessons & Performances

    ASDF funds 8 months of violin and viola lessons for Raub students led by staƯ from the Allentown Symphony Association’s El Sistema Program. (ASA has programs in other ASD schools with diƯerent funders.)

  • Latin Dance Lessons & Competition

    ASDF funds & coordinates 9 weeks of salsa and merengue lessons in ASD’s 4 middle schools culminating with a competition in the fall.

  • High Notes Gala Cast/Crew Grants to Performance Groups

    Performance groups from ASD high schools provide entertainment at the High Notes Gala and receive grants to help fund their programs.

  • Broadway Bus Trip for Gala Cast and Crew

    ASDF funds & coordinates an end-of-year Broadway trip for High Notes Gala performers, crew and group directors.

  • Allentown DRIVE Baseball

    ASDF serves as a conduit for a grant to help fund a competitive baseball program for ASD middle school students.

  • Teacher Innovation Grants

    ASDF coordinates the TIG application and selection process and funds approximately 24 grants per year up to $1,200 each for special projects submitted by ASD educators.

  • Graduating Senior Scholarships

    ASDF coordinates & funds an achievement-based scholarship program for ASD graduating seniors including more than 60 expendable and endowed scholarships per year. Recipients are selected by staƯ from the three ASD high schools and LCTI.
